Ennis
Ennis has been selected as a hub town for the following reasons:
- Population - Ennis has a population of over 24,000 people. This makes it the largest town in Munster and the 6th largest town in Ireland.
- Location - Only 19km from Shannon International Airport.
- Services - Ennis is served by both bus and rail links to all major cities and towns in Ireland. Ennis also serves as a major regional hub for County Clare.
- Technology - 1997 saw Ennis become Ireland's first and only Information Age Town.
- Strong sense of community - In 2005 Ennis won the Irish Tidy Towns Competition. The town has maintained this high ranking over the years.
The growth and development of Ennis as a hub town is based upon the strategy of public participation. It is important that every member of the community outlines their vision of Ennis for 2020.
